Jenny began belly dancing after seeing students dance at her Community College in South Lake Tahoe in 2004. IMG_1684She was captivated by the music and costumes and knew that she wanted to learn. She learned basic movements with teachers Nikki Niebauer and Namira from South Lake Tahoe, Ca.  As time progressed, she began to discover the different styles of belly dance. She learned Egyptian style belly dance in San Bernardino, Ca with teacher Judy Acuna. She then moved back up North to the Bay Area and began classes in BlackSheep BellyDance format with her teacher Seba (who would go on to found Wildcard Bellydance.) She continued her studies in ITS with Wildcard Bellydance, and performed under their student troop Blackdiamond Bellydance (2007-2009.)

IMG_1688 She started her solo career in 2010 after falling in love with tribal fusion- the same way so many dancers have- after watching a Rachel Brice video. She started taking many workshops with renowned bellydancers such as Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Jill Parker, Frank Farinaro and many others. She took ATS classes at the FatChanceBellyDance studio to learn more about this iconic dance form that was born there, and from which so many tribal fusion forms had their inception. In 2011 she intensively studied in Costa Rica at Rachel Brice’s Bellydance retreat. She continued to perform solo until she reunited with the BlackSheep BellyDance format in 2013, studying with its Creatrix, Kajira Djoumahna.

Jenny is so happy to have met, studied with and performed with Kajira that she wanted to spread her love for this dance format. She decided to get certified to teach at Tribal Fest 2014 (an annual Tribal dance festival in Sebastopol that is beloved and well-known.)

Jenny now holds levels 1-3 certification to teach Kajira Djoumahna’s BlackSheep BellyDance format and was honored to have been invited by Kajira herself to become a Member of BSBD in November 2014. She thanks Kajira for all the love she spreads and for being a great supporter in Jenny’s dance career and life. IMG_1690Jenny has never felt as passionate about any art form or community until she found Bellydance. She continues to learn all styles of dance in order to be a well rounded Fusion Dancer. She currently resides in San Bernardino, Ca and has had the pleasure to have been learning popping by her teacher Edenia Archuleta. She was more than thrilled when she realized Edenia lived in the same neighborhood as she did, and was determined to learn from Edenia Archuleta. She is very happy to have meet and danced with many talented dancers and hopes to do more of it as she continues to grow in this dance form.

Jenny Rivero has had the pleasure of performing with San Francisco band “Diego’s Umbrella” from 2010-2013. She has also performed live with well renowned Dj Govinda in Los Angeles. On October 2013, Jenny won 1st place New Talent Category at  North Bay’s Bellydance Bazaars Bellydance Competition. Last but not least on the Summer of 2014, Jenny performed as part of the Tribal Fusion cast in Jillina Carlano’s world class production, Bellydance Evolution: Alice in Wonderland. She feels honored to have shared the stage with some of the leading belly dancers of today, and to have performed at the Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
